The deadline to file an Independent petition for Council came and went last month, and for the first time in three years, no candadacies for Council were launched by the "Fighting for Manville" Party. Republican nominees Ron Skirkanish and Tina Lazzeri will run in a 4-way race against two Democrats.

Skirkanish is serving his third term on the Council and is a retired union carpenter of over 40 years (United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local 254). Republican voters first selected him as their candidate in a 4-way primary for two seats after he (like so many Manville residents) walked away from the Democrat Party in 2022.

Lazzeri is a food professional for Aramark at Manville High School, as well as a fitness instructor and co-owner of family business Jersey Pine Tree and Landscape. She ran alongside Councilman Joe Lukac in 2024, falling 41 votes short in a 6-way race where third-party candidates split the Republican vote.

The Republican candidates are running on a platform of completing the Royce Brook project to alleviate flooding, providing homeowners with the option for elevation, and fully staffing the Borough to handle resident concerns. Learn more about Skirkanish and Lazzeri here.
